Roland Introduces the MT-300s Music Player

A Music Tutor(tm) that's also a "Workstation-in-a-Box"

January 29, 1998

Roland Corporation U.S. introduces the MT-300S Music Player, a full-featured digital sequencer and sound module that includes the Music Tutor's "human" like qualities to assist learners and performers at all skill levels. Retaining the MIDI-simplicity of earlier MT-Series modules, the MT-300S has the practical features required by today's aspiring MIDI musicians.

The MT-300S is as easy to use as a CD player: turn it on, insert a music file disk and press Play. It also provides all the functions a musician needs for an effective and enjoyable practice or performance. With the MT-300S, players can set and adjust their own tempo during practice with standard metronome tones, or with additional fun tones like dog and cat sounds or a human voice count-in. And the LCD's "bouncing ball" metronome feature displays a musically-flowing visual reference.

The MT-300S features GS ensemble sounds with up to 16 parts and 64 voice polyphony. Each part can be changed and new parts can be added, using any of the 369 onboard instrument sounds and built-in rhythm patterns. With this "workstation-in-a-box," MT-300S users can record and piece parts together one at a time. Once recorded, tracks can be edited note-by-note, allowing users to easily correct any "mishap."

By plugging in a microphone and muting the melody, the MT-300S is instantly transformed into a karaoke machine. The MT-300S also features key change and echo functions to enhance any singer's voice. It even displays the lyrics on Standard MIDI Files on its built-in LCD, or on an external monitor or TV screen when using the optional LVC-1 Lyrics Video Converter.

The MT-300S produces a broad two-octave range of reference tones for easy tuning of wind and string instruments. And the MT-300S is completely portable, sporting a convenient carrying handle. With its internal amplified stereo speakers, the MT-300S is an always-ready rehearsal or performance partner-any time, any place.
