New Trace Elliot SMC Series Bass Amps January 29, 1998
The SMC range is the latest in a line of bass amplifiers to feature Trace Elliot's much loved seven band graphic EQ preamp, the GP7 and takes over from the enormously popular SM range. For many players the SMC's flexible but simple-to-use preamp provides the perfect combination of control and tone - the range also sees the appearance of such features as on-board compression and MOSFET power stages (in 300w units).
The switchable graphic EQ section provides 15dB of cut and boost while the pre-shape switch gives instant access to the classic mid-cut Trace bass tone.
The new dual compressor is again selectable in or out and is controlled with a single level control to govern compression ratio up to a maximum of 20:1. Outboard effects can be patched into the SMC's effects loop, located on the front panel, alongside the Balanced DI XLR output. The DI is switchable for either pre or post EQ send, allowing the user to present the front of house engineer with a flat signal should that be required. A Line Out socket and Output Level control complete the front panel layout.
The SMC range comprises heads and combos, in 150 watt and 300 watt power ratings, so whether you're gigging, recording or rehearsing, there's an SMC amp that will suit your needs.
