The Trace Acoustic range has been leading the world in the amplification of acoustic instruments since its inception in 1989 and 1998 sees the TA50R, TA100R and TA200S upgraded for the first time.
All three benefit from a redesigned front panel and a new reverb unit which gives a better selection of reverb and delay effects - 12 reverb and four delay settings are accessed via a rotary Program switch and level pot. The new reverb is also a lower noise unit, thus improving the overall performance of the combos.
The TA200S has undergone some other significant changes and now appears as a four channel amplifier, essentially using two pre-amps giving two channels of complete split stereo operation if required. In this mode, a stereo instrument can be plugged into Channels 1 and 3 with the two sets of preamp controls on the left and right of the amp operating independently on the two halves of the stereo signal. This applies to the graphic equalisers and effects sections as well - allowing one side to be treated with reverb and the other with delay, for example.
The TA200S can also be switched so that the preamp operates in mono, whilst the effects loop remains in stereo, so whatever is plugged into the front end of the combo will come out of the left and right speakers.
