A R T Introduces The Pro Channel At Winter
NAMM
 January 28, 1999 Applied Research and Technology (A R T), leading manufacturer
of tube dynamics processing equipment, introduces the Pro Channel, a professional
tube-based microphone/line recording channel at this year's Winter NAMM.
Fueled by three hand-selected vacuum tubes, the Pro Channel features
three, independent, world-class A R T circuits: the Pro MPA microphone
preamplifier, the Pro VLA optical compressor and the Tube EQ parametric
equalizer. In addition, the Pro Channel gives you the freedom to select
either A R T's award-winning optical compressor or our new Variable Mu
compressor. The Variable Mu circuit is fast, fat and a bit aggressive,
bringing back the sound of those vintage broadcast limiters. Both compressors
feature selectable attack and release times, adjustable threshold and
ratio, and output level controls. The preamp section includes over 70dB
of gain, +48v phantom power, and a 20dB pad. The four-band equalizer has
selectable Q for two sweepable mid-bands in addition to selectable high
and low shelving filters.
Insert points (1/4") are available between each of the Pro Channel's
three processing sections. These inserts provide direct outputs from the
preamp and the compressor for signal routing flexibility. Additionally,
these inserts allow the isolation of each processing section for independent
use or the modification of the processing sections' order. The Pro Channel
also offers a backlit VU meter, which monitors levels at the output or
either insert send, and tube character and gain reduction LED arrays.
The Pro Channel features an internal power supply, front-panel power
switch and a five-year warranty.
