60's Stratocaster® Closet Classic
|
January 28, 1999For players who love the "broken-in" look and feel of Fender's Relic
guitars, the Custom Shop has added a new setting to their "Time Machine."
In addition to the popular N.O.S. (New Old Stock), and Relic finish packages,
the Custom Shop has introduced a "Closet Classic" option for 1999.
The Closet Classic resembles a guitar that was purchased new in its respective
year, kept in the closet, played perhaps a dozen times a year and then put carefully
away. It has a few small "dings", lightly checked finish and oxidized
hardware.
N.O.S. and Relic finish packages have been available on select Custom Shop
models since 1995. However, the Closet Classic package was a privilege previously
available only through special ordering. These three option packages are available
on the new '51 "Nocaster", '63 Telecaster®, '56 Stratocaster®,
'60 Stratocaster®, '69 Stratocaster® and the '64 Jazz Bass®.
All six models are built to exacting specifications of their respective vintages,
including body contours and radii, neck shape, fingerboard radius, pickups,
electronics and hardware. Original materials, tooling and production techniques
are employed whenever possible.
