PRESS RELEASE

New Squier Models for 1999

January 28, 1999

Squier by Fender®, known for its performance and value, introduces three new model groups. The all new Affinity Series, Standard Series and Stagemaster Models, prove once again, that time-tested designs, quality materials and attention to detail, result in nothing less than a family of guitars unequaled in their class.

SQUIER AFFINITY SERIES

Ideal for beginners or players looking for a second instrument, the Squier Affinity Series has a wide variety of styles to choose from. The Squier Mini, Bronco Bass, Strat®, Tele® and P-Bass® will wow you with their classic looks and playability.

SQUIER STANDARD SERIES

The all new lower priced Squier Standard Series has stepped up to the plate, without skimping on quality or compromising integrity. The new Squier Standard Stratocaster is faithful to its popular namesake in every facet. Notable additions include dual-humbucking and hum-single-single pickup configurations. Also, all Squier Standard Series Strats now feature the late '60s "big" headstock design. Likewise, the Squier Standard Telecaster® follows in the footsteps of the axe that started it all, and the Squier P-Bass® Special is now available in a left-handed option.

All Squier Standard Series guitars feature solid hardwood bodies, three-ply white pickguards, and gold Squier logo. New color options include: British Racing Green, Frost Red, Vintage Blonde (Tele only), and Galactic Purple in addition to the Black, Sunburst and Arctic White choices previously available.

SQUIER STAGEMASTER MODELS

This entirely new Squier Stagemaster, is made explicitly with the young rocker in mind. With its sleek body design, reverse headstock and drive-bombing, double-locking tremolo, the new Squier Stagemaster spells "flash" with every feature. Each guitar comes equipped with sleek hardwood body, maple neck, reverse Strat headstock, die-cast machine heads, Rosewood fingerboard (12.6" radius), 22 frets, master volume and tone controls, white/black/white pickguard and a Floyd Rose® licensed double-locking tremolo. The Stagemaster is available in three different pickup configurations. The Stagemaster HSS features a scorching humbucker in the bridge position and two hot single-coils in the middle and neck with 5-way switching. While the HH features dual humbuckers and 3-way switching, the HSH has dual humbuckers and one single-coil pickup in the middle. In addition to Black, all new colors are available, including: Frost Red, Polar White, Cobalt Blue Metallic and Galactic Purple.
