Fostex Introduces New CR300 Optical Disc RecorderFull-featured optical disc recorder that offers complete compatibility with CD, CD-R and CD-RW media January 28, 1999Fostex Corporation of America, which has led the professional audio industry
in bringing highperformance, fully featured multitrack random-access recording
and editing systems to more users than ever before, today took that commitment
one step further with the introduction of the CR300 CD Recorder. The high-performance
and highly functional CD recorder offers complete compatibility with all CD
optical media, including CD, CD-R and CD-RW. As a full-featured stereo optical
disc recorder, the new Fostex CR300 allows users to own a completely randomaccess
digital recording and editing system from multitracking through to mixing and
archiving.
The new Fostex CR300 was unveiled at the 1999 NAMM Convention in Los Angeles
at Booth #1155 and promises to bring a new level of capability to all kinds
of audio environments, from recording and project studios to post production
to broadcast and corporate audio/video.
The new Fostex CR300 is designed to be compatible using both standard CD-R
(write once) and CD-RW (write/erase, rewrite) media, and discs created using
the CR300 will play back on any Red Book CD player. This broad range of compatibility
between formats meets the audio industry's needs for a reliable, CD burner whose
discs work across the board on any playback machine. In addition to this capability,
the new Fostex CR300 offers a high degree of functionality, making it a perfect
fit in any number of applications.
Features include the ability to take input from any source format. The inclusion
of both coaxial and optical digital I/O ports, as well as AES/EBU inputs, XLR
+4 dBu and 10 dBV inputs (controlled by a dedicated input selector dial on the
front panel) means source material from other CDs and DATs, as well as analog
from tapes and cassettes can become fully digital.
The CR300 offers three Digital Synchro Recording Modes, which allows the CR300
to be armed and synchronously started from a master DAT player equipped with
an S/PDIF connector, such as the Fostex D-5 DAT player, as well as two manual
recording modes. (The CR300 is also easily adaptable as a backup format for
Fostex's extensive family of hard disk recording systems --- Fostex Disc Management
System (FDMS) software can cancel the Auto Stop function of the Digital Synchro
Recording feature.)
Other significant new features include:
- A Built-In Sampling Rate Converter - part of the digital input section that
converts 48 kHz or 32 kHz sources directly the Red Book CD standard of 44.1
kHz.
- Auto Track Incremental Level Setting - allows for six selectable levels
(6 dB increments) during recording.
- Four Erase Modes - for Last Track, All Track, Disc and TOC-only makes the
CR300 the most versatile machine of its type for its price.
- Margin Indicator - Recording level margin can be observed digitally to protect
against digital distortion.
- Digital Fader - the CR300 offers variable digital fade-in and fade-out selectable
at 6, 9, 12 or 18 seconds for smooth crossfades.
- Other features include Copy Bit Selection for three types of copy protection,
and an infrared remote controller which comes as standard equipment with the
CR300.
"The new CR300 CD Recorder brings a considerably enhanced degree of features
and functionality to what has become a basic necessity in digital audio production
today - the ability to burn CDs reliably, cost-effectively and in all formats,
including CD-RW," said Phil Celia, Fostex Corporation of America Director
of Sales. "The Fostex CR300 brings that capability and more to a broad
range of users in an easy-to-use package. This kind of technological achievement
is what we at Fostex have dedicated ourselves to: feature sets that people need
at prices that they can afford." For more information, visit http://www.fostex.com/ |
