Marshall amplification announces the launch of two new 1x12 combos in their JCM2000 series of guitar amplifiers. These two new Dual Super Lead (DSL) models are the 20 Watt, all-tube (4x12AX7s, 2xEL84s) DSL201 and the 40 Watt, all tube (4x12AX7s, 4xEL84s) DSL401. The EL84 power tubes help give the amps a glassy brightness with a well-defined mid-range that gets very aggressive and bristles with desirable, warm harmonics when overdriven.

Both amps boast two totally independent, footswitchable Clean and Overdrive channels (LED footswitches are supplied - a one way pedal for the DSL201, a two way for the DSL401). Each channel has controls for Gain, Bass, Middle and Treble and the OD channel also has its own Volume control in addition to each amp's Master Volume control. For further tonal flexibility, the DSL401 has a third footswitchable sound, OD2, which has 20dB more gain than OD1.

Each amp also features reverb, a parallel FX loop (with Mix control on the front panel), Marshall's renowned speaker emulation output (the exact same circuit as in the popular JMP1 preamp) and custom voiced Celestion speakers. The rear panel of the DSL401 houses two Loudspeaker Output jacks, which are switchable between 8 Ohm and 16 Ohm settings. This means you can use the DSL401 to drive a full stack of 4x12s if desired, a feature that adds further to this combo's versatility. Like its bigger brothers, the DSL50 and DSL100, the DSL401's rear panel also has an input for an optional Reverb on/off footswitch.

While being capable of producing the pristine and complex clean sounds of the JCM2000 range, because of their relatively low Wattage, both the DSL201 and DSL401 can be easily overdriven to create a rich, warm poweramp distortion at manageable volumes. This makes them ideal for home use, studio work, rehearsing and small gigs where it isn't always possible or practical to play at high volumes.

The DSL201 has a suggested retail price of $849.99 and is available in March '99.

The DSL401 has a suggested retail price of $999.00 and will also be available in March '99.
