MMX Masters Custom Drums from Pearl
 January 28, 1999For 1999, the trend-setting MMX Masters Custom innovates again with major upgrades
including die cast hoops and new OptiMount Suspension System as
standard equipment.
Already renown for their sensitivity and warmth, MMX toms now have greater
depth, focus, and resonance thanks to the application of Pearl's newly developed
die cast hoops. The result of painstaking research, these hoops feature optimum
mass to enhance the drum's low-end frequency response while allowing the drum
to vibrate freely for maximum resonance and sustain.
All MMX mounted toms feature Pearl's new "universal fit" OptiMount
Suspension System that accommodates virtually all toms from 8" to 16"
in diameter and 7" to 16" in depth. The OptiMount's tension rod mounted,
four-point attachment system assures rock solid stability regardless of drum
tilt or weight. MMX toms are available in standard, alternative, and power depths
in diameters from 8" to 16" and floor tom sizes.
Bass drums feature new D-054 claws with recessed tension rod receivers for
set-and-forget tuning. Rubber gaskets on the inner surfaces of the claws prevent
scratching and protect the finish of the hoops. New "taller" CL-250
lugs insure precision tension rod alignment with the claws. MMX bass drum are
offered in 18" to 24" diameters in standard and power depths
MMX snare drums have also been upgraded. The MMX-5514C (5 1/2 x14) and MMX-5514DC
(6 1/2xl 4) now feature die cast hoops, SR-15 Gladstone-type strainer, and bridge
lugs with brass tension rod receivers.
MMX Masters Custom are sold in shell packs and in components. Six high gloss
lacquer finishes are available including NEW #151 Platinum Mist, #100 Wine Red,
#102 Natural, #103 Piano Black, #122 Black Mist, and #126 Emerald Mist.
