Sonorus Ships 24-bit Analog/Digital and Digital/Analog Converters

January 28, 1999

Sonorus, Inc. president Marc Lindahl has announced the shipment of A/D and D/A converters for the AUDI/O® series designed to interface the award winning STUDI/O® digital audio interface with a full range of analog equipment, making Sonorus one of the first companies to ship 24 bit converter products.

Sonorus's AUDI/O AD/24 8-channel 24-bit analog/digital converter features eight (8) +4dB balanced XLR inputs, full 24 bit signal path, ADAT lightpipe output (24-bit), Wordclock in/out, 48 kHz and 44.1 kHz sample rates, 24 bit 64x oversampling converters, a calibrate function designed to eliminate systemwide DC offsets, 117dB dynamic range, and LED meters. Suggested retail price for AUDI/O AD/24 is $799.00

The AUDI/O DA/24 digital/analog converter sports a similar feature package, including eight (8) +4dB balanced XLR outputs, full 24 bit signal path, ADAT lightpipe input (24 bit), Wordclock output, 24 bit 128x oversampling converters, 115dB dynamic range, and LED meters. Suggested retail price for AUDI/O DA/24 is $599.00. The first units shipped in mid-November.

Both AUDI/O AD/24 and AUDI/O DA/24 utilize the highest quality analog circuitry and standard half-rack format, making it possible for users to combine A/D and D/A units for the desired configuration of inputs and outputs. "Since STUDI/O received such accolades for its technical excellence our goal was to offer converters that would meet the expectations of our customers. We are very pleased that we are able to deliver this quality at such a great price," comments Lindahl. "Beginning with the release of STUDI/O, Sonorus is continuing to cultivate the ground that lies between the professional audio and the project studio market. By making professional grade tools that are affordable both types of users are well served."
