Yamaha Announces Alex Acuna Signature
Timbales
January 28, 1999Yamaha is pleased to introduce the Alex Acuna Signature Wood
Timbales at Winter NAMM '99. Working with longtime drum endorsee, Alex
Acuna, Yamaha has created a totally new voice for the percussionist/drummer.
The Alex Acuna Signature models offer a wide range of sizes and purchase
options, making them an easy fit for any drummer or percussionist's arsenal.
Made from 6-ply Maple, the White Sparkle Lacquer timbales range in size
from 8-in. to 15-in. Each drum includes an aluminum suspension ring for
high head tension.
"I am proud to have my name on these drums," notes Acuna. "They are warm,
but still powerful, and always maintain a very defined timbale sound.
These are the timbales that will be used in the modern Latin drummers'
set-ups today and for generations to come."
The timbales utilize the standard Yamaha ball and clamp tom holder, which
allows for flexible positioning. The Maple construction, which contributes
to the warm-yet present-tone makes them an ideal choice for both live
performance and studio recording.
"The Alex Acuna Timbales are very unique because of their 6-ply all-Maple
construction and the variety of sizes to choose from," states Dave Jewell,
product manager, Yamaha Drums. "The consumer is not locked into having
to buy two specific sizes of timbales, but can pick and choose the sizes
they prefer. Or they can purchase them individually for drum set application."
Prices range per timbale. For more information,
