Long known for its tradition of fine quality and workmanship in its acoustic
guitars, Yamaha Corporation of America is bringing the art of guitar-making
to the next level with the introduction of the LS/LL Series of handmade
acoustic guitars at Winter NAMM. With over 35 years of commitment to quality
and value-and 10 million guitars later-Yamaha is now dedicating itself
to building professional-level models which will be well-received by even
the most discriminating players.
The LS/LL Series guitars feature solid backs, sides and tops of the finest
woods. Hand-selected book-matched Sitka Spruce tops are carefully matched
to backs and sides of solid Indian Rosewood or Mahogany. Necks are hand-shaped
and frets are seated and crowned by Yamaha's experienced team of luthiers
with over 350 years of combined experience. Yamaha has already begun shipping
a limited quantity of LS/LL models.
"Yamaha has the highest level of guitar making capability in the world,"
states David Bergstrom, director of marketing, Combo Group. "The company's
rich tradition, knowledge of the nuances of sound control, and ability
to create consistent, quality guitars is now being applied to a higher
level of instrument. In the spirit of providing maximum value for the
money, the LS/LL Series stand on their own for playability and character
of sound."
Two body styles are offered, LS and LL, with a choice of solid wood back
and sides. The LS Series features a slightly smaller body profile with
a clear, balanced and penetrating sound character. The LL Series features
Yamaha's variation on the popular dreadnought body style for an impressive
acoustic experience. The LS 400 and LL 400 feature solid Mahogany back
and sides. The LS 500 and LL 500 feature solid Indian Rosewood back and
sides. Rosewood offers maximum brilliance and depth of tonal color while
Mahogany renders a slightly warmer and mellower tone. The LS 400 models
are available in a choice of three finishes: Natural, Gloss Black and
Vintage Stain. In addition, all Yamaha handcrafted models feature soundhole
ornamentation of genuine abalone, bound fingerboards and headstocks, and
Yamaha's Lifetime Warranty.
