Broadcast Wave Added to Mackie's Hard Disk Recorders August 23, 2002
Mackie Designs Inc. announced the release of an operating system upgrade for the Mackie HDR24/96 and MDR24/96 hard disk recorders. This latest version of Mackie's hard disk recorder OS (Version 1.3), available free to Mackie customers, implements industry-standard Broadcast Wave as the native recording format on both units and enables compatibility with the recently announced OPT*24 and Serial*9 accessory cards.
"Broadcast Wave is the universally accepted delivery format recently released by the Producers and Engineers wing of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (NARAS, www.grammy.com)," commented Keith Olsen, Corporate Director, Global Recording Market and Product Development at Mackie Designs Inc. "With Broadcast Wave on board, users can now easily transfer files between the Mackie recorders and any other program that supports the Broadcast Wave format."
Version 1.3 also makes the HDR and MDR recorders fully compatible with Mackie's recently announced SDR24/96, allowing users to easily integrate an SDR24/96 into an HDR or MDR-based studio. Projects created on the HDR or MDR, as well as Mackie Media M90 drives, can now be easily moved between any hard disk recorder in the Mackie family.
Olsen continued, "In addition to the other updates, Version 1.3 provides a new playlist management system that eliminates the need for multiple playlists within a project. Now, each playlist is conveniently saved separately from the project and is stored as its own project file."
Existing HDR24/96 and MDR24/96 users can download the free software upgrade from the Mackie website. New units will begin shipping in September with the software pre-loaded.
