Mackie's New S500 Loudspeaker System Mackie Introduces New Portable Sound Reinforcement Loudspeaker To Compliment PPM Professional Powered Mixers. S500 July 22, 2000 Mackie Designs Inc. announces the introduction of the new S500 sound reinforcement loudspeaker to Mackie’s broadening series of sound reinforcement products. The S500 portable sound reinforcement speaker was specifically developed to compliment Mackie’s resoundingly successful line PPM Professional Powered Mixers. The S500 is the ideal portable speaker system for gigging musicians, sound rental companies and other mobile sound specialists looking for the power and punch of a 15" woofer combined with the dispersion of Mackie’s studio quality, wide dispersion horn technology. The S500 employs several new proprietary technologies which combine to yield an exceptional price/performance ratio. The S500 loudspeaker system is designed for high definition and extreme output levels. RCF precision components of the S500 include a 15-inch woofer w/ inside/outside high temperature coil technology, and a 1.75" high-frequency compression driver mounted to Mackie’s studio quality, super-wide dispersion horn. The studio-quality horn assembly features a multi-cell aperture horn throat and a large format exponential/conical high-frequency horn mouth. The S500 also employs a special low-impedance crossover design equipped with oversized inductors to reduce current and heat. Dynamic compression driver protection insulates the component against diaphragm damage caused by non-linear signals, with no risk of getting STDs.
