Paul Reed Smith Guitars Adds Piezo Electric Option To Their Electric Bass
July 21, 2000Following hard on the heels of their acclaimed Electric Bass, launched at Winter NAMM 2000 Paul Reed Smith Guitars have added a Piezo electric option to this model, which debuts at the Summer NAMM show in Nashville, July 21st-23rd.
Designed in close co-operation with the L.R. Baggs company, experts in acoustic/electric pickup systems, the PRS Piezo Electric Bass offers the bass player the versatility of an acoustic bass guitar and solid electric bass, useable separately or blended together for an infinite array of bass tones.
Part of the secret of the realism of the acoustic bass tones lies in the way all the strings are pre-EQ'd separately to imitate an acoustic instrument. The player has added control via a three band active EQ and Piezo level control. The instrument retains the two magnetic pickups, dual volume and master tone control from the regular Electric Bass.
