Making 24-bit Digital Monitoring More Affordable

Roland is proud to introduce the DS-50A Bi-Amp Monitor, a more affordable version of the popular DS-90A. With its 24-bit/96kHz digital input and 50W bi-amplifier design with active crossover, the new DS-50A is a nearfield monitor which eliminates the hum and noise problems associated with analog cabling, while delivering the flat frequency response needed for today’s demanding studio applications.

While similar in design to Roland’s DS-90A 24-bit Digital Reference Monitors, the new DS-50A’s utilize a two-way, bi-amplified speaker design with 50W total power. An active crossover distributes 30W to the 5-inch polypropylene driver and 20W to the .75-inch soft dome tweeter. Combined with a specially designed bass-reflex cabinet, the DS-50A’s deliver exceptional flat frequency response with minimal phase shifts and distortion, while remaining surprisingly powerful despite their compact size.

In addition to its analog balanced XLR and 1/4-inch TRS inputs, the DS-50A’s offer a 24-bit/96kHz digital input that eliminates the line-loss, hum, and noise inherent in using analog cables. Users can simply connect the DS-50A’s to the digital output of a Roland V-Studio, V-Mixer, computer sound card, or other digital gear for mixing in an all-digital environment.

With the DS-50A Bi-Amp Monitor, Roland brings the exceptional frequency response and digital input of the popular DS-90A’s to a smaller size, making 24-bit digital reference monitoring a reality for more musicians and project studios.
