Roland Studio Set Delivers Professional V-Drums Sounds at Affordable Price

July 22, 2000

Roland is proud to introduce the Studio Set, an affordably-priced electronic percussion kit that combines the amazing V-drums TD-8 Percussion Sound Module with Roland’s time-tested PD-9 and PD-7 Dual-Trigger Pads. With its unmatched expression capabilities and breakthrough price, the Studio Set puts the awesome modeling and editing power of a true V-drums system within reach of more drummers, percussionists, and project studios.

The new Studio Set is based on Roland’s acclaimed V-drums TD-8 Percussion Sound Module, which boasts 1,286 high-quality sounds (1,024 drum and percussion sounds and 262 backing instruments). Using the TD-8’s COSM-based V-Editing Mode, drummers can precisely tune and shape individual drum size and depth, head type and tuning, muffling, and even snare strainer adjustment. These sounds are further enhanced by onboard EQ and Ambience effects.

This complete electronic percussion kit includes one TD-8 Percussion Sound Module, three PD-9 10-inch Dual-Trigger Pads (for snare, floor tom, and ride cymbal), four PD-7 7.5-inch Dual-Trigger Pads (for hi-hat, rack toms, and crash cymbal), a KD-7 Kick Trigger Unit, FD-7 Hi-Hat Control Pedal, plus a custom Studio Stand including all necessary mounting hardware.

Like all Roland electronic percussion systems, the Studio Set provides a realistic playing experience with all the sensitivity and dynamics drummers are used to. In fact, the snare drum in particular features Positional Sensing, which can create timbre changes based on the area of the pad struck, while the FD-7 Hi-Hat Control Pedal can create realistic hi-hat sounds from open to closed. Drummers can even choke the cymbals—just like an acoustic set.

Combined with the proven performance of Roland’s PD-9 and PD-7 rubber pads, the TD-8 Module makes the new Roland Studio Set not only a highly expressive instrument, but an incredible value as well.
