July 23, 2000Sony Electronics today showcased its latest professional recorder/player in the portable MD product line. The powerful yet compact MZ-R70 MiniDisc recorder/player is considerably more feature-heavy and cost effective than its predecessor, the MZ-R55CG.
In addition to incorporating all of the popular functions of the prior models, the MZ-R70 offers such exciting new features as a dual headphone jack that allows two people to monitor a recording simultaneously, digital recording level control, and 40 seconds of shock resistant memory for virtually skip-free playback.
A slim and easy-to-transport unit, the MZ-R70 also features ATRAC version 4.5 for improved sonic clarity, a stick style remote located on the headphone cord for access to machine functions and editing, and digital synchro recording that enables users to make digital CD copies onto a MiniDisc (with synchronized operation that begins recording when the digital signal is received).
"The MZ-R70 is a small, convenient recorder for any application ranging from sound design/archiving and sampling in the field to mobile music recording and taping band rehearsals," reported Paul Foschino, marketing manager for the professional audio group, of Sony Electronics' Broadcast and Professional Company. "You can also use it for digital note-taking and interviews or for personal entertainment. This is a truly portable and inexpensive way to have access to digital stereo recording capability. We have had considerable success with the MiniDisc format in the MI channel and we expect this unit to be a strong addition to the line."
Additional features include:
- Extended playback time - 17 hours with single "AA" alkaline battery
- Full editing features-Track: combine, divide, move, erase, name
- Mega Bass system-Enhances low-frequency response
- Disc position pointer-Shows location on disc and remaining time.
The MZ-R70 will be available July at a suggested list price of $279.95. For more information, visit their web site at www.sony.com. |
