July 22, 2000The final piece of Taylors 2000 Limited Edition Signature Series is in place, with the introduction of the Clint Black Signature Model. Black and guitarist-collaborator, Hayden Nicholas, own several Taylors between them, and Black has propagated a love of Taylor instruments by making a special gift of his K22 to good friend Eric Idle, of Monty Python fame. Singer-songwriter Stephen Bishop also found his way to a Taylor of his own, after playing a K14 at Blacks house.
Black was personally involved in every aspect of the CBSMs design. The CBSM uses Clints favorite Taylor, the 912c, as a starting point. Its an acoustic-elecrtric Grand Concert 6-string with a Venetian cutaway, back and sides of East Indian Rosewood, and a top of Englemann spruce, edged with Presentation Series-style abalone and Ivoroid binding. Inlaid on the fingerboard are the words "These Times (in Clints handwriting) and corresponding musical notes, on a musical staff wrapped around a large feather quill. The snippet of lyrics refers to the song Black feels is his best work.
There will be only 100 Clint Black Signature Models made, each of which will have a custom sticker inside, featuring Blacks and Bob Taylors signatures. For more information, visit their web site at www.taylorguitars.com. |
