Yamaha Introduces Versatile MC Series Mixing Consoles

New Models Can Change from House to Monitor Configuration With the Touch of a Button

July 23, 2000

Yamaha Professional Audio introduces the MC Series, a new line of multipurpose mixing consoles, at Summer NAMM 2000. Ideal for bands or sound systems in small-to-midsize clubs, theaters and houses of worship, the MC Series consoles (MC32/12 and MC24/12) offer flexibility and professional features at an attractive price point.

Housed in lightweight, high-strength frames, the two models feature 32- and 24- input capability, with four group busses and six aux busses as the standard front-of-house configuration. At the touch of a button, the boards have the ability to individually re-assign aux busses to become group busses, enabling the consoles to operate as either a four-buss, six aux buss house board or a 10-mix monitor board-or any combination in between.

"The MC Series is a great addition to a thriving analog console market," states Wayne Hrabak, marketing manager, Professional Audio. "Both models offer an amazing set of features at prices that will suit any budget-conscious venue or band."

The bus reassign feature of the MC Series is ideal for situations where the purchase of separate house and monitor consoles may be cost-prohibitive. "Mixing monitors from the house position is a great benefit," adds John Schauer, Professional Audio product manager. "It's a unique feature for any analog console-especially in this price range."

The mono inputs feature four-band EQ with two sweepable mid bands. Each of the ten separate mixes has its own send control, and can be set to Pre- or Post-fader as needed. Faders are 100mm throw precision controls. All inputs feature peak indicators, and mono inputs contain a pad switch. In addition, +48-volt phantom power is provided and selectable in groups of four.

All ten output mixes have 100mm output faders and switchable, three-band, mid-sweepable EQ, which is useful for monitor mixes. A stereo buss provides a second output, and two matrices are also provided. Comprehensive metering on the outputs allows the user to view all sends on LED meters. Inserts are provided on all mix outs and the stereo buss.
