Yamaha Shows YD Series Acoustic Drum Sets

Latest Kits Offer Professional Quality at Amazing Prices

YD2F56
July 23, 2000

Yamaha Drums brings the quality and reputation that has made its drums the choice of professionals the world over to a whole new market with the introduction of the YD Series, the next generation of low-priced, high-quality acoustic drums, at Summer NAMM 2000. The dazzling sets-completely built by Yamaha-include the YD2F56 five-piece kit (MSRP $949) and the YD0F56 five-piece kit (MSRP $929). Both units will ship in September.

"The YD Series is entirely manufactured by Yamaha," says Jerry Andreas, marketing manager, Yamaha Drums. "The shells are manufactured alongside the upscale Stage Custom products and, interestingly, all the hardware is manufactured at our motorcycle factory. These sets are versatile enough to handle all styles of music and have the quality to carry the player from beginner through professional levels."

Features include Yamaha-constructed, 9-ply Mahogany shells utilizing an exclusive Air-Seal System (the same method used on Yamaha professional drum shells), Mahogany bass-drum hoops with matching inlay, Remo heads with PowerStroke-type bass drum heads, springless-design lug casing and the same professional-quality hardware as the award-winning Yamaha Stage Custom set. Add-on drums are also available in all tom sizes, 8-in. to 18-in.

The YD2F56 includes a 22 x 17-in. bass drum, 12 x 10-in. and 13 x 11-in. power toms, 16 x 16-in. floor tom and 14 x 5 1/2-in. matching wood snare drum. The YD0F56 set includes a 20 x 17-in. bass drum, 10 x 9-in. and 12 x 10-in. power toms, 14 x 14-in. floor tom and 14 x 5 1/2-in. matching wood snare drum. Kits are available in new wrap colors: Night Black, Garnet Red, Emerald Green, Marine Blue, Sky Blue, and Sun Yellow.

"The YD Series gives beginners a low-priced, high-quality reason to get started," adds David Jewell, product manager, Yamaha Drums. "The YD2F56 and YD0F56 contain features that are never seen on entry-level sets, such as professional hardware and Mahogany hoops. They're not only very solid kits, they're also great-looking."
