PRESS RELEASE

Fender's New Squier Standard Series

July 22, 2000

JagMaster Telecaster
Double Fat Strat Standard Strat

The best selling brand name in the guitar industry has received some very special attention over the past six months to enhance the playability and value of Squier’s benchmark line of guitars, the Standard Series. While this line is easily Squier’s most popular to date, a greater line of distinction between its entry level Affinity Series has been drawn - one that provides very obvious benefits to making the "step up" to a Squier Standard.

Since its introduction in 1986, musicians have looked to the Squier brand for a very affordable guitar with an exceptional sound, feel and quality that they can depend on day in and day out. Countless guitarists have learned their craft on a Squier, and just as many continue to play them regularly. With recent advancements in off-shore manufacturing techniques, Squier is now able to offer significant upgrades to its best-selling Standard Series without significant added costs.

Improved hardware, a more playable neck, an added body shape - even a seven-string model - are all featured in the new Standard Series from Squier. They’re better quality, they have more attitude and they are much more guitar for the money.

A newer, slimmer neck offers a distinctively different feel from that found previous Squier Standard or Affinity Series guitars. Referred to as "fast action", these slimmer necks are deeply rooted in FMIC family history, evoking images of Hendrix and Blackmore. this also brings an added variety to the FMIC family by offering more players a neck that suits their preference - and their budget.

This new "fast-action" neck now features 22 frets for an extended tonal range. A neck plate engraved with the Squier logo is now a standard feature, as is the new improved hardware found on all Standard Series guitars. In addition, they are available in six unique colors that are not offered on Squier brand guitars, including: 3-Color Sunburst; Candy Apple Red; Shoreline Gold; Sherwood Green Metallic; Black Metallic; and Purple Metallic.

The Squier Standard Stratocaster is available with either a rosewood or maple fingerboard, and comes with a new twin-pivot bridge with satin anodized saddles and three single-coil pickups. US MSRP is $329.99. The left handed version is available with a rosewood fingerboard only, MSRP $369.99.

For a little more of a hard rockin’ kick, the Squier Standard Fat Strat and Double Fat Strat will also be introduced. These humbucking demons feature the new twin-pivot
