August 01, 2000

Ibanez debuted a completely new Artwood lineup at the Nashville NAMM show. Each guitar in the line Ibanez calls "the best value in a pro acoustic" is now either an existing model with upgrades or an entirely new model. Three of the new Artwoods are impressive acoustic-electric dreadnought cutaways. The AW100CENT is one of the upgraded versions of an existing model. The new version still has the Artwood hallmark feature of a solid spruce top with scalloped bracing; however, Engelmann spruce replaces the original Sitka. The Fishman Sonicore® pickup remains, but the EQ has been upgraded to a Fishman Classic 4. On the cosmetic side, chrome Grover tuners have been replaced by gold, the neck is now bound, and the standard rosette is now an attractive abalone. In addition, there is now a left-handed version, the AW100LCENT. The AW200CENT is one of the entirely new Artwood models. Like the AW100CENT, the AW200CENT features an abalone rosette, bound neck, gold Grover tuners and an Engelmann spruce top. But instead of mahogany, the AW200CENT features the bright sound and striking looks of figured maple (either quilted or flamed). In the electronics dept., the AW200CENT is fitted with the Fishman Acoustic Matrix® pickup and the new Fishman PREFIX PLUS EQ. To help introduce the new models, Ibanez has created a new 2000+ supplement to the 2000 Ibanez acoustic complete catalogue.
