Johnson Amplification Bundles Cakwalk Guitar Tracks with J-Station

Advertisement Johnson Amplification announces that it has entered into a strategic alliance with Cakewalk® to bundle its Guitar Tracks multitrack recording software with Johnson’s runaway success, the J-Station. "We’re thrilled about our new relationship with Johnson Amplification," says Michael Hoover, Cakewalk product manager. "Cakewalk is broadening its reach and attracting guitar players who, until now, may have been hesitant to record and mix on the PC. Seeing that Johnson is a brand leader among guitarists, we know this partnership will turn thousands of guitar players onto our Guitar Tracks recording software." Jim Pennock, vice president of engineering for Johnson Amplification, comments: "Cakewalk’s Guitar Tracks adds even greater value to the J-Station. Via the J-Station’s S/PDIF connector, guitarists have previously had the ability to put our amp models and effects directly into a computer. But now, thanks to Guitar Tracks, J-Station users will also have a complete digital eight-track studio available at their disposal – and for no extra cost." All J-Stations shipped are now equipped with a single CD-ROM that includes not only ‘J-Edit’ – Johnson’s editing/librarian software for the PC, which provides access to more parameters than available from the hardware control surface – but Cakewalk’s Guitar Tracks software as well. Guitar Tracks is an easy-to-use eight-track digital audio recording package for recording and mixing digital audio on a Windows PC. The software allows users to quickly start recording and mixing music using familiar tape-recorder-style controls. It also offers real-time effects mixing, support for DirectX™ audio plug-ins and a built-in guitar tuner, as well as other utilities for the practicing and performing guitarist. When purchased by itself, the software carries a US suggested retail price of $69.00. By receiving the Guitar Tracks software, J-Station owners become part of the Cakewalk customer "family", entitling the to special upgrade pricing on other Cakewalk products. Johnson Amplification’s J-Station is the recording enthusiast’s long-awaited answer to getting convincing guitar and bass amp tones onto a recording medium. The J-Station combines not only the great guitar amplifier modeling Johnson is famous for, but also adds bass amp modeling and acoustic guitar simulation to its modeling arsenal.
