July 20, 2001

During Summer NAMM 2001, DigiTech unveiled its latest addition to the GENETX technology family in the form of the new GNX2 GENETX Guitar Processor.

The GNX2 adds even more flexibility to the tone shaping powers of the popular GNX1. The GNX2 comes with 64 factory presets and can save up to 64 user presets. Included in the GNX2 is Distortion Stompbox modeling that allows models of the 10 most popular distortion stompboxes to be used with any of the amp models or HyperModels.

"The added features of the GNX2 give musicians even more flexibility to create their own unique tones," said Rob Urry, president of Harman Music Group. "The GENETX technology inside the GNX2 gives guitarists the power to create entirely new sounds - something that wasn't possible until now."

The GNX2 has 24bit A/D/A converters and includes a 1/4 -inch input jack, CD inputs, MIDI in and out/thru jacks, independent 1/4-inch left and right stereo outputs, microphone input and output and an S/PDIF digital output. Using the S/PDIF digital output, users can connect directly to any digital recording device including many of the latest computer sound cards.

The GNX2 uses DigiTech’s powerful Audio DNA chip to provide up to 12 studio-quality effects at a time. The effects include: Auto Swell, Chorus, Flanger, Phaser, Triggered Flanger, Triggered Phaser, Tremolo, Pitch Shift, Detune, Whammy, Ya Ya, Auto Ya, Synth Talk, Envelope Filter, Rotary Speaker, Compressor, Noise Gate, 3-band EQ with Sweepable Mid Control, Panning and multiple Delay and Reverb settings. Each of the included effects has up to five adjustable parameters that can be easily accessed on the front panel. The Learn-A-Lick feature is a phrase sampler that can record a musical passage and slow it down from its original speed without changing the pitch. The GNX2's built-in Rhythm Trainer also provides 30 styles of drum patterns to play against at any tempo.
