New QRx Loudspeakers Additions from EV

EV Adds to Already Popular Loudspeaker Family with Dual 12" Two-Way Full-Range QRx212/75 and Dual-18" QRx 218S & QRx 218SF Subwoofer

July 25, 2001

EV introduces additions to the already successful QRx line at Summer NAMM. Three new QRx models complete the line: Dual 12" Two-Way Full-Range QRx212/75 and dual-18" QRx 218S & QRx 218SF (flying) Subwoofer. QRx loudspeaker systems provide high-quality audio solutions for local hire, rental companies and demanding installations.

QRx loudspeakers function as a main PA, as well as stage monitors, and for low-profile/limited clearance installations, QRx requires less space than standard trap boxes when used in horizontal box hangs; arraying is also simplified. Additionally, the rectangular design of QRx subs allows for the highest versatility. All sub cabinets are ultra-slim, flat-sided cabinets that easily fit under low stages or in limited space corners. Flat side design enables the proper stacking of subs for optimized output, performance and appearance in low-frequency arrays.

The QRx-212/75 is a full-range, two-way loudspeaker system that incorporates two 12-inch woofers and a 3-inch voice coil compression driver on an asymmetrical 75-degree x 50-degree rotatable constant directivity horn. In factory delivered position, the horn provides a 15-degree up/35-degree down vertical coverage pattern. The trapezoidal cabinet design allows the main PA system cabinet to easily conform to multi-cabinet arrangements or limited space clearances without sacrificing internal volume. The fully rotatable horn means pattern control is user-determined, regardless of cabinet position. The QRx-212/75 features 45 – 16,000 Hz (-10 dB) frequency response (measured on axis) and 600 watts continuous power handling (passive). The QRx-212/75 features two DL12Sx 12-inch woofers, the new large-format DH-7 driver with a 3-inch voice coil on fully rotatable asymmetrical CD horn (used in X-Array™ X- and Xi-Series), Ring Mode Decoupling (RMD™), two NL4 Speakon® connectors, and 13-ply Birch plywood. As an excellent solution for medium sized rooms and audiences as a main PA, providing moderate SPL levels with good bass response and added punch in the lower and mid frequencies, the QRx-212/75 is your box.

The QRx-218S/QRx-218SF is a dedicated subwoofer incorporating two 18-inch EVX180B direct radiation woofers for extended LF thump and power down to the lowest octaves with minimum box volume. This vented 1200-watt system easily provides 127 dB SPL at 1 W/1 m (133 dB peaks 1 W/1 m) at full power in a rectangular enclosure that is stable and readily stacks for extra energy or slides under even the smallest stages. The QRx-218S cabinet has recessed side safety handles for ease of transport and includes 1-3/8-inch pole mount receptacle for use with full-range cabinets, thus eliminating the need for extra mounting stands. The rear of the cabinet includes four 5/16-18 threaded T-nuts for affixing casters or dollies. The QRx-218SF (Flying) model comes with L-track rigging at the top and bottom of the unit.
