PRESS RELEASE

Fender Introduces Two New Acoustics

July 22, 2001

Fender Musical Instruments Corporation (FMIC) will add two models to its recently introduced Grand Series acoustic guitars this summer, with the GN-45 SCE and GC-42S. Both models are designed exclusively by Fender, and both models will be on display for the first time at Fender’s booth at the NAMM show in Nashville.

"As with the Grand Auditorium models that we introduced this winter," says Ron Kronewitter, marketing manager for Fender Acoustics, "our two newest models are the product of a collaborative effort between Fender and Guild luthiers. We’ve worked very hard to ensure that these designs meet the highest standards of quality."

Based on the exclusive design of the Fender Grand Auditorium, the new GN-45 SCE is a nylon string guitar that incorporates the feel of a steel string by utilizing a slimmer body and neck profile than most other nylon stringed instruments.

Adds Kronewitter, "This guitar is made for players who want the sound of a nylon string guitar, yet who are more comfortable with the feel of a steel stringed acoustic or electric guitar."

The GN-45 SCE features the Fender/Fishman exclusive ACLR preamp system. This cutaway acoustic/electric guitar is comprised of a solid, AA grade spruce top and solid rosewood back, and features a natural finish with tortoise shell binding. Unique rosette position markers complete this guitar’s appointments. US MSRP is $959.99.

For guitarists who prefer a slightly smaller acoustic instrument, Fender offers the GC-42 S, the second new addition to the Grand Series. The special design Grand Concert style body is ideal for its comfortable shape and the added tonal complexity that it adds to any guitarist’s palette with its smaller body.

This non-cutaway acoustic steel string guitar is comprised of a solid, AA grade spruce top and solid mahogany back with natural finish and tortoise shell binding.. Abalone position markers complete this guitar’s appointments. US MSRP is $649.99.
