July 23, 2001 In keeping with its celebration of the 50th anniversary of the first Precision Bass in 1951, Fender Musical Instruments Corporation (FMIC) will honor the musical accomplishments of two artists and their very distictive instruments with Signature Models. This summer, FMIC announces the introduction of the Sting Signature Precision Bass and the Steve Harris Signature Precision Bass.
For fans of Sting, one of the worlds most visible bass playing front men, the image of his 1953 P-Bass is one that transcends a musical career of more than 25 years - from The Police to very illustrious solo career. The new Sting Signature Model is a faithful recreation of that 1953 P-Bass.
Manufactured at Fender Japan, the Sting Signature Model features a lightweight, contoured ash body with a single-ply white pickguard. The maple neck has a fretboard radius of 7.5" and features Stings signature in a block inlay on the 12th fret.
There is one vintage single coil design pickup, with one volume and one tone control. Completing the look and feel of Stings own bass are the vintage two saddle bridge and two-color Sunburst finish. US MSRP is $849.99.
As the driving force behind rockers Iron Maiden for more than 25 years, Steve Harris and his bass playing have opened new musical avenues that paved the way for a second British Invasion during the late 70s and early 80s. This time around it was heavy metal, and most bass players since will cite Steve Harris as their major influence.
In recognition of Steves contribution to the history of the Precision Bass and music as a whole, Fender now offers the Steve Harris Signature Model P-Bass. This new model is a combination of Steves current specifications and the true spirit of the numerous guitars that he has played throughout his career, with personal features including a wine red mirror pickguard and his signature and Iron Maiden logo on the headstock.
Also manufactured at Fender Japan, the Steve Harris Signature Model is made from basswood, and features a maple neck with a 7.25" fingerboard radius. There is one Seymour Duncan Basslines Quarter Pound P-Bass pickup with one volume and two tone controls, all three of which have black dome knobs. The bridge is a Baddass II.
USMSRP is $799.99. For more information, visit their web site at www.fender.com. |
