Korg Releases V2 Operating System for D-Series Recorders July 20, 2001Korg USA has released Version 2 operating systems for the D1600 and D12 Personal Recording Studios. New features include support for up to eight times writing to CDR and CDR/W media, for creating audio CDs, exporting WAV files to CDR/RW media, and making song data backups. This speed increase for the D1600 requires the new internal CDRW-2x8, and the new internal CDRW-1x8 for the D12.
Other enhancements include an automatic data compare to ensure that a file is good when making a backup, the ability to make multiple audio CD copies, and the ability to export multiple WAV files at the same time. This new version also allows the user to format fixed and removable media such as FAT16 (which is required before exporting WAV files to move to a personal computer or other device), plus the ability to erase CDR/W media to reuse it. Additionally, a number of display enhancements have been implemented, including an improved track display screen, better resolution on the meter levels, faster locating within long audio files, and faster WAV file previewing.
Version 3.0 for the D16 has also been released, incorporating these same features (with one difference: up to four times burning/backup of audio and data to external SCSI CDR/W drives). Version 3 also improves the D16s waveform display, giving the user a larger viewing area and finer resolution when visually editing audio data.
These new Operating Systems are available for download from www.korg.com, or they can be ordered on CD-ROM free of charge from Korg USA.
