PRESS RELEASE

Roland Expands SRX-Series Sound Library

July 21, 2001

Roland has introduced two new SRX-Series Wave Expansion Boards: SRX-03 "Studio SRX" and SRX-04 "Symphonique Strings". These 64MB* user-installable boards feature high-quality waveforms and all-new patches for use in "SRXpandable" instruments like Roland’s XV-Series synthesizers and new RD-700 Expandable Keyboard. The SRX-03’s sound set is aimed at contemporary pop music production, while the SRX-04 offers outstanding stereo-sampled string sounds.

For musicians seeking the latest pop music sounds, the SRX-03 "Studio SRX" Wave Expansion Board is the perfect solution. With 64MB of wave data (equal to the internal ROM in Roland’s flagship XV-5080 128-Voice Synthesizer/Sample Playback Module), the SRX-03 gives musicians and producers all the contemporary sounds needed for today’s pop music styles. These all-new waveforms—which include acoustic and electric pianos, nylon and electric guitars, brass sounds, synth sounds, plus bass and drums—were carefully recorded in world-class studios and edited to preserve their natural ambience.

The SRX-04 "Symphonique Strings" Wave Expansion Board gives composers and other musicians the ultimate orchestral collection. With 64MB* of wave data, the SRX-04 rivals that quality and realism of some of the best sample libraries without the loading time of CD-ROMs; patches from the SRX-04 are instantly available the moment the board is installed. These spectacular new string sounds feature stereo-sampled waveforms and were recorded in Eastern Europe for the utmost in authenticity. Both solo and ensemble sounds are provided—along with a multitude of articulations—for creating authentic string orchestra performances. The SRX-04 is ideal for film composers, studio musicians, or anyone else looking to add the finest dedicated orchestral sounds to their SRXpandable Roland synth.
