System 6000 Version 2.0 Now Shipping July 20, 2001TC Electronic announced
software version 2.00 for the Flagship processor, System 6000 Multi-channel
Signal Processing Platform. "This update contains such an amount of
improvements on both performance and usability that we decided to go from
version 1.31 to 2.00" explains Product Manager, Niels Helbo. "The System
6000 has now been used in the field for more than a year, and based on both
feedback from users and TC visions the 2.00 software release represents an
important step for the processing platform as a concept."
Version 2.00 includes VSS-4 - an all new generation of TC Electronics award
winning proprietary VSS room simulation technology, support for Unwrap - an
optional stereo to 5.1 conversion algorithm - user interface improvements
including a new four engine overview page - extended preset management and
storage via PCMCIA card - improved surround reverbs, and additional factory
presets.
VSS-4 - Stereo Reverb
VSS-4 is a genuine stereo reverb, and radically departs from being an
additive sustain tail added to a 2-channel signal. Based on source related
reflections from multiple angles, the precision of VSS-4 is comparable to
real-world mono or stereo sources positioned in an authentic or virtual
space. It maintains full bit transparency, and can be operated at Sample
Rates up to 96 kHz.
UnWrap - Stereo to 5.1 conversion
UnWrap is an algorithm that implements professional stereo to 5.1
conversion processor for the music and film industry with advanced
up-conversion and down-conversion between formats. Flexible Stereo to 5.1
conversions are provided offering different solutions, optimized
individually for different types of source material. Some of the solutions
enable bit transparent reconstruction of the original stereo signal. UnWrap
operates at Sample Rates up to 96 kHz.
Four-Engine Overview in one page
To improve on overview, usability and fast accessibility when working with
several Engines a new page "E1-4", has been made. At this page available
active User Fader-groups for all four Engines are displayed, enabling to
access and operate selected parameters across Engines from one page. If
you e.g. have several reverbs running simultaneously, and you want to
access Decay parameters for all Engines at the same time, this is now
easily done from the User Fader group page.
Extended preset management and User presets on PCMCIA card
It is now possible to insert a standard PCMCIA card in the slot below the
Floppy-drive, to gain access to up to 10 additional Scene, Routing and
Engine preset banks.
When formatting a 1MB (or larger) PC-Card, 10 user banks appears in the
lists on the Store page. It is possible to store and recall single preset
directly in the banks, and to rename the card-bank names. When inserting a
512KB card, 5 Scene, Routing and Engine banks are available. With a 1MB
PC-Card inserted this gives a total number of User presets in one Mainframe
of 550 Scene presets, 550 Routing presets, 1100 Engine presets
It is now also possible to dump complete User banks to floppy, and to give
them individual names. This is carried out on Library / Bank page, which
was formerly known as Archive.
Improved surround reverb and more factory presets
Two new unique Locations have been added in VSS-5.1 and VSS-4 libraries:
Cinema and Oval Room, especially suited for Film and Post-production
applications. Also an additional Film & Post preset bank containing 50
VSS-3 and several VSS-4 Film & Post production presets have been added.
