AKG Introduces 4+3 Rackmount Automatic Mixer
July 24, 2001
Advertisement With the introduction of its AS 4+3 Automatic Mixer, AKG Acoustics redefined functionality, ease of use and compactness in automatic mixers. The new auto mixer integrates a variety of useful features into a case that fills only one rack unit. The AKG AS 4+3 offers four balanced microphone inputs as well as three unbalanced line level inputs to accommodate additional audio source equipment. Each microphone input is RF protected and includes switchable 24-V phantom power while an integrated adjustable compressor/ limiter can compensate for distance-related variations in signal level. In addition, an Auto Mode setting employs gates to attenuate unnecessary microphones. By utilizing the AKG AS 4+3's switchable ducking function, the mixer will automatically attenuate all other channels when a signal is present at the MIC 1 input, giving the strongest signal priority over all other channels. Meanwhile, the unit's master output section offers further signal management through bass and treble controls that can be adjusted to application-specific requirements. For situations that call for more than four microphone inputs the AKG AS 4+3's daisy chainable configuration allows multiple units to be added.
