Free Software Upgrade Released for Fostex VF-16

Fostex America recently announced free software upgrades for its VF-16 Digital Multitracker, according to Phil Celia, Director of Sales & Marketing. "These improvements represent our response from customer feedback," Celia said, "and we are glad to be able to offer this new software version free of charge." New features and functions include CD Mastering to Plextor PX-W1210TSE External SCSI CD burner and a new "Mix" program. All 16 tracks can be mixed down internally to this "Mix" program and can then be burned to SCSI CDR either one program at a time or multiple programs at a time. Scene automation can be used while performing these mixdowns to the "Mix" programs. Due to intermittent incompatibilities found in some VF-16's formatted with V2 software, it is recommended that all VF-16 owners update to Version 3.02 . To ensure a complete software update, users are advised to first update to version 3.02 and then re-format the hard drive using the new Version 3.02 software. Updates may be accomplished either by following the step-by-step instructions outlined in "Option A" on the Fostex web site, or users may send their unit to the Fostex America Service Dept. following the instructions under "Option B". "Ever since its introduction at Summer NAMM last year, the VF-16 has proved to be one of our most popular Digital Multitrackers," Celia commented. "Now, with these improvements in performance and flexibility, the VF-16 design concept of an all-in-one package becomes even stronger and more desirable," he concluded. The VF-16 is a 16-track high capacity hard disk recorder/editor with a built-in digital mixer complete with Fostex acclaimed digital effects processors.
