Since the launch of Lexicon's flagship 960L Multi-Channel Digital Effects System, Lexicon continues to follow up with upgrades to further expand the 960L's capabilities, including the well-received delay and 96kHz reverb algorithm package released in 2001. Now, Lexicon is shipping a highly sophisticated automation option for the 960L, which has been greatly anticipated since the announcement of its development at the 2002 Winter NAMM Session in Anaheim, CA.

The optional automation feature is available at authorized Lexicon dealers. Customers can purchase a dedicated "key" to unlock the automation feature in their 960L with version 3 software. Version 3 software is a no charge upgrade that will be automatically sent to all existing registered customers and included standard in production units. Customers who register their 960L at www.lexicon.com will also continue to receive the delay and 96kHz algorithm option at no charge.

The 960L automation option allows program changes, pan moves, parameter adjustments, and mutes to be written and played back exactly as recorded. During recording or mixing sessions, users can perform other valuable functions while the 960L automatically makes previously-recorded changes synchronized to incoming MIDI timecode.

The 960L can store up to 100 automation sessions. Each session allows the user to define wordclock, global mix, and global input/output settings, as well as DSP card configuration and input/output routing. Because each automation session contains its own unique version of user register programs, the automation feature is essentially non-destructive. When a session is loaded, the state of the 960L is restored to the state saved with that session. When a session is closed, user register programs are restored to their previous state. Sessions can be run on various 960Ls without affecting the existing state of user register programs on each individual unit.

In addition, session data is saved independent of the originally-written timecode frame rate, allowing existing sessions to run at any frame rate without affecting timing accuracy. Sessions automatically conform to any incoming frame rate and remain real-time accurate.

"With this new feature set, Lexicon again demonstrates how important it is to be receptive and responsive to customer feedback. This exciting automation option is a direct result of comments we gathered from leading artists, engineers and producers," noted Buzz Goodwin, Lexicon's Vice President of Sales. "As Lexicon's flagship processor, we plan to continue to expand and enhance the 960L's functionality on a regular basis. We are dedicated to the development of advanced solutions that will meet our customers' needs for years to come."
