The Summer NAMM show brings a new set of digital nearfield monitors from Roland, the DS-30A 24-bit Digital Reference Monitor. This 24-bit/96kHz-capable monitor provides DS-Series monitoring at a lower price point, while delivering 30 watts of output and flat frequency response.
Like all DS-Series monitors, the DS-30A is free from line-loss and hum, thanks to a S/PDIF digital input (optical or coaxial). This provides direct digital monitoring of Roland/BOSS digital studios or computer-based recording systems, digital mixers and more. (A balanced XLR/TRS jack is provided for conventional analog monitoring.)
The DS-30A is powered by a 30-watt biamped system with custom crossover circuitry for ultra-flat frequency response, with minimal phase shift and distortion. Low frequencies are sent to a 5-inch polypropylene driver while high frequencies go to a 1-inch soft dome tweeter. Both are magnetically shielded, making the DS-30A great for computer-based recording systems. The power switch is now conveniently located on the front.
