Yamaha introduced a new powered speaker developed specifically for use with Yamaha's Silent String Instrument line at Summer NAMM 2002.
Designed for use with the Yamaha Silent Violin, Silent Cello, and Silent Viola, the AS60-112T is equipped with a built-in 60-watt amplifier which powers a
30 cm speaker and dome tweeter. The speaker was engineered for the specific tonal characteristics of violins, violas, and cellos, with special consideration given to frequency range and resonance. Like the Silent String Series, the amplifier is easy to use and ideal for amplified rehearsals or performances. The speaker features tweeter and tonal characteristics that better meet the needs of bowed string instruments.
"When the Silent Violin was introduced, it created a completely new segment of electric string consumers," states Michael Schaner, product manager, Band & Orchestral Division. "We developed this amplifier for musicians and students using silent and electric bowed string instruments. With the introduction of the AS60 powered speaker, we are able to meet their needs."
The AS60-112T will be available in October, 2002.
