Yamaha Drums has introduced a new series of foot pedals, ranging from lightweight designs for beginning players to professional features for the serious or career musician.
Five single- and seven double-pedal models made their first appearance at Summer NAMM 2002 with MSRPs ranging from $110 to $550, and are currently shipping. Notated with prefixes FP or DFP, all models with foot boards feature collapsible frames for easy packing and storage. A variety of drive types--including single or double chain, direct or strap drive--provide extremely smooth action and will satisfy the requirements of any musical style. All pedals are manufactured to extreme tolerances in Yamaha's motorcycle factory, and will easily withstand the rigors of constant use or the abuse of the road.
"Today, more than ever, drummers must be able to adapt musically," states Jerry Andreas, marketing manager, Yamaha Drums, "and support that with reliable, versatile gear. These new pedals offer a wide rage of feel that will address the needs of any type of music and withstand any style of drumming."
Additional features include footboard and beater angle adjustment, real felt beaters, a spring lock system, new footboard and heel designs, and soft cases for selected models.
"In the world of drum kit hardware, perhaps no component is more important than foot pedals," states Dave Jewell, Drum product manager. "In creating this line, Yamaha researched what did and did not work in product lines from the past, and also examined the needs of today's drummer. The result is an entire line that has been redesigned from the ground up."
