Yamaha Debuts RBX774 and RBX775 Electric Basses

July 19, 2002

Yamaha Guitars takes the popular RBX Series electric bass line to the edge with the Summer NAMM 2002 introduction of the RBX774 4-string (MSRP $899) and RBX775 5-string (MSRP $999). Designed for the progressive musician, both models feature modern, streamlined designs, even response, and versatile electronics that are ideal for today's heavier music styles.

Construction highlights include solid Alder bodies, cut to give a sculpted 3-dimensional appearance and provide easier access to the upper frets, plus bolt-on Maple necks and Rosewood fingerboards. A black truss rod cover completes the sleek design.

"These basses will rock hard," states David Bergstrom, director of marketing, Yamaha Pro Audio & Combo Division. "The RBX line has been the bass of choice for some of today's most progressive musicians, and the RBX774 and RBX775 are fitting additions to that family."

Electronics include a pair of custom double coil humbuckers with passive electronics that can provide enough rumble and cut for any live or studio gig. Controls include Master Volume and Tone, Pickup Selector, and Boost Switch. A black chrome bridge contains individual saddles that are designed to keep the playing surface clean and catch free.

Black chrome knobs and tuners are recessed into the body of the instrument, completing the updated look. Available finishes include Black, Flat Silver, Flat Blue, Dark Blue Metallic and Red Metallic.

"The RBX774 and RBX775 are designed to deliver solid performance, period," says Gary Cook, product manager, Yamaha Guitars. "These newcomers not only have incredible looks, they've got the even response, the cozy ergonomics, and the punch that are the hallmarks of the RBX Series."
