July 19, 2002

Yamaha Corporation of America introduced the YDP113 and YDP223 Digital Pianos. The YDP223 is a refinement of its , the YDP121, adding Yamaha's famous GH (Graded Hammer) action which emulates the touch, feel, and response of a concert grand piano. In this exclusive action design, the weight or resistance of the key becomes gradually heavier from top to bottom. The unit also features 64 notes of polyphony, 14 voices with the professional quality of stereo sampling, and three pedals. Additional features include an easy-to-read LED display, adjustable reverb, adjustable touch sensitivity, and metronome. A two-track sequencer allows the user to practice one hand at a time by recording the left hand on track one, and the right hand on track two.

In addition to the connectivity of MIDI IN/OUT/THRU, the YDP223 includes a TO HOST port for effortless computer connection. A built-in song library and music book come complete with 50 of the most popular piano songs.

The YDP113 shares many of the YDP223 functions and features, but with 32 notes of polyphony, 10 voices, and a single pedal.

Both models are durable and functional enough to work in educational and worship settings, and will complement any interior space with their classic Rosewood finishes.

"These new digital pianos follow the remarkable success of the Yamaha YDP121, the first 88-key, weighted action piano for distribution to Yamaha's MI retailer market," states Jim Presley, marketing manager, Portable Keyboards.

The YDP223 (MSRP $1,495) and YDP113 (MSRP $1,195) will ship in the 4th quarter of 2002.
