PRESS RELEASE

John Lennon J-160E Peace Model from Gibson

July 24, 2002

Gibson Montana, in cooperation with Yoko Ono, introduced the John Lennon J-160E Peace Model, a limited edition replica of the 1962 guitar that Lennon used faithfully while recording, in movies and for live performances. The Peace Model resembles Lennon's guitar in 1969, after he stripped away the psychedelic paint job he commissioned in 1967. The natural guitar was used during the famous "Bed-In" peace demonstrations.

In addition to the antique natural finish, the J-160E Peace Model has a P-90 pickup, signature truss rod cover, authentic body binding, and vintage case.

"John Lennon is remembered not only as a legendary artist, but as a passionate human being who wanted to make the world a better place," says Henry Juszkiewicz, Gibson chairman and CEO. "We're proud to commemorate his good works with a guitar that became a symbol of his commitment to peace and social justice through music."

This model has a limited edition run of 750 guitars. Each will be numbered and come with a Certificate of Authenticity.

The original guitar is now on display in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio.
