Opcode to Return with New Audio/MIDI Interfaces

Opcode Systems, a subsidiary of Gibson Guitar Corp., announced a new line of computer audio hardware products at the NAMM show. Product features include 192kHz, 24-bit converters, AES/EBU, S/PDIF and MIDI I/O.

"Musicians want affordable, quality computer audio products that meet their needs within their budget," said Gibson chairman and CEO Henry Juszkiewicz. "From a single-cable USB MIDI product all the way up to 192k converters and balanced multi-channel I/O, we have an affordable solution for almost anyone. People will be very pleased with the reliability, and feature sets of the new Opcode line."

A variety of full-featured products will be available at various price points allowing users to choose the right product for their recording needs. The PCI systems provide expansion - up to four PCI systems per computer. Multiple USB products provide perfect companions for laptop computer users.

The flagship product, the SonicPort Studio Ultimate X192-8.8, features 8 analog +4 / -10 I/O, 192kHz, 24-bit conversion, S/PDIF, AES/EBU and Word Clock digital I/O, 32 channels of MIDI and 32-bit PCI bus mastering support.

The DatPort U96-2.2 provides 96kHz recording in a USB plug-and-play solution with 2 analog I/O (used as line level or mic pre with 48v Phantom power), S/PDIF I/O, MIDI I/O and a headphone out with volume control.

Platform support includes Windows 98/ME/2000/XP and Mac OS X. Driver support includes: ASIO2, GSIF, DirectX, WDM KS, MME and the Mac OS X Core Audio Driver.

The products will be released in Q4 of this year and will be available at digital audio and musical instrument dealers worldwide.
