V-Stage Set Added to Roland's V-Drum Lineup

July 19, 2002

Roland introduced the V-Stage Set, a new V-Drums system that includes the TD-8 sound module with over 1,200 sounds and COSM drum editing, plus specially designed new V-Cymbals and V-Pads. This set also comes with a matching silver aluminum stand with all necessary hardware and cabling, bringing the V-Drums sound and ultra-intuitive operation to a whole new level of accessibility.

The "brain" of the new V-Stage Set is the TD-8 Percussion Sound Module. This popular module offers 1,286 drum, percussion and instrument sounds; powerful COSM-based V-editing of "virtual" drum shell type, depth, head tuning and more; an intuitive graphic interface; and high sensitivity. Drummer-friendly faders permit easy volume adjustment, while an onboard pattern sequencer makes practice and performance that much easier.

Drummers will appreciate the V-Stage Set's natural and responsive pads, which include the dual-trigger PD-80R mesh V-Pad for snare (capable of triggering separate head and rim sounds), three PD-80 mesh V-Pads for toms, one KD-80 V-Kick, and a dual-trigger PD-7 for triggering two distinct hi-hat sounds in conjunction with the FD-6 Hi-Hat Controller.

The V-Stage Set is also the first V-Drums system to feature the CY-12R/C V-Cymbal Ride/Crash. This 12-inch cymbal works as a ride or crash, and features selectable dual-triggering of separate sounds on the edge and bell. It even allows for cymbal chokes. Best of all, the CY-12R/C's design closely mirrors the shape, weight, rebound and natural "swinging" motion of an acoustic cymbal. Two of these V-Cymbals are included: one for crash, and one for ride.

Like all V-Drums systems, the V-Stage Set offers room to expand. Using the additional trigger inputs on the back of the TD-8, users can add on any PD-Series pad or CY-Series cymbal–including flagship V-Pads and V-Cymbals. MIDI ports enable drummers to connect to samplers and sequencers for drum tracks on stage and in the studio.
