Roland introduces the VGA-3 V-Guitar Amplifier at Summer NAMM, a compact 50-watt guitar amp that uses COSM modeling to deliver a range of electric and acoustic guitar models–plus cool polyphonic effects–from any electric guitar equipped with the optional GK-2AH Divided Pickup. Even without the GK-2AH, guitarists can still take advantage of 11 programmable COSM amp models and three independent effect processors, making the VGA-3 one of the most powerful and affordable modeling amps ever conceived.

Thanks to COSM Guitar Modeling and the optional GK-2AH Divided Pickup, the VGA-3 can simulate the sounds of six guitar types including electrics, acoustic guitar and 12-string guitar–even guitar synth and electric sitar sounds. And there are also the unique polyphonic effects like Slow Gear and Octave

In addition to guitar modeling, the VGA-3 offers 11 COSM amp models that have been re-worked for the most accurate sound possible. These models include combos like JC Clean, American Clean, Tweed, British and Modern, plus stacks like Classic I, Classic I+II, R-Fier, Modern and Metal. There's even an acoustic guitar simulator for that "unplugged" sound.

Onboard effects include a dedicated reverb processor with new spring reverb emulation, a delay processor with three delay types–plus a separate EFX processor for chorus, flanger, phaser and tremolo effects. A built-in chromatic tuner makes tuning up a snap, while analog-style knobs make tweaking effects easy. Custom settings can be saved to digital memories for recall via the front panel or footswitch.

Special connections to the VGA-3 include a convenient Auxiliary input for playing along with CDs or a drum machine, plus a Headphone/REC output for silent practice or easy direct recording. A MIDI input makes it possible to control the VGA-3 via MIDI or the optional GFC-50 Foot Controller.
