Samson Introduces dB500 Active and Passive PA Speakers

July 22, 2002

dB500

Samson's new dB500 monitor system comes in both active and passive version. A two-way system, the dB500 features a super heavy-duty custom designed 15" Celestion Tru-Vox low frequency driver and a titanium diaphragm high frequency driver with a 1" throat.

The dB500a active version features a Class H amplifier that pumps 400 Watts to the low frequency driver and 100 Watts to the high frequency section–more than enough power to fill any club. The efficient Class H amplifier design provides the power to deliver transient spikes with punch.

The dB500a goes further thanks to Samson's exclusive Optimax processing. Optimax processing uses sophisticated circuitry to compress and limit output at ideal levels. And Optimax does this without using sliding filters, like some active PA speakers do. This allows the dB500 speaker to provide high volume levels without sacrificing low end.

The dB500a offers a practical back-panel mixer-like pre-amp section that provides mic and line inputs with individual input level controls. A selectable low pass filter and the Optimax compressor/limiter controls are also included.

Both versions of the dB500 feature the same two-way configuration, the same drivers and the same robust cabinets with a variety of mounting options. The dB500 passive version contains a natural sounding fixed frequency crossover. All you need is your own amplification.

The dB500a has a MRSP of $699.99 and the dB500 lists for $419.99.
