Crest Performance, a division of Crest Audio, introduced the CP-6210 professional program music mixer, an update of a classic mixer design, and its companion CP-6220 expander/crossfader. The CP-6210 and CP-6220 are intended for use in critical install and portable applications such as nightclubs, DJ racks, restaurants and rental rigs.

The CP-6210 rack-mountable mixer provides six channels, with a choice of five stereo line inputs, four RIAA phono inputs and two microphone inputs. Left, right and summed mono outputs are provided on both balanced XLR connectors and gold-plated RCA connectors for the mixer's house output. Also included are balanced 1/4" headphone jacks, RCA connectors for the booth monitor outputs, a switchable stereo effects loop and pre- and post-effects tape outputs.

All six input channels employ controls for level, balance and source selection. On each channel, the user can select from the primary input signal (four are switchable phono/line inputs and two are mono microphone/line inputs on balanced XLR connectors) or any of five common stereo aux line inputs. Bi-color LEDs indicate channel signal level, while a stereo cue system allows the user to monitor any channel from the booth or headphone outputs.

Each of the five aux inputs has a rear panel gain control for optimum signal matching, and the two microphone inputs include high and low frequency EQ controls, as well. The four-band EQ on the program bus allows the operator to perform overall sound shaping on the main mix.

When additional control is required, the CP-6220 expander can be added using a single ribbon cable. This processor provides a three-frequency, DJ-style band-pass EQ on each input channel, as well as assignment switches to the A/B crossfader buses or directly to the program bus. A smooth-feel, 45 mm crossfader allows the operator to easily switch between input sources. The taper control and A/B reverse switch give the operator total control over the behavior of the VCA crossfader. Four 12-segment, peak-hold, stereo LED meters are provided for monitoring the cue, program and crossfade A and B audio buses.

The CP-6210 and CP-6220 will be available in 2003 from Authorized Crest Performance Dealers.
