Fender Open Up Tonal Possibilities with S-1 Switch

July 18, 2003

Fender has introduced their latest innovation in guitar technology, the S-1 Switch. Mounted directly onto the volume control pot on all Fender American Series Stratocaster guitars with humbucking pickups, the new S-1 Switch literally opens up the Strat guitar to entirely new ranges of pickup configurations and guitar tones.

The new S-1 Switch is the answer for players looking for Fender guitars with humbucking pickups, but who also want all that the classic Fender single coil sound has to offer. The new Fender American Series guitars with humbucking pickups come with the standard Fender five-way pickup selector switch, but with the new S-1 Switch engaged, players can enjoy the added versatility of an endless array of new pickup configurations not previously offered on Fender guitars.

Says Richard McDonald, Senior Vice President of Marketing for Fender, "The Stratocaster guitar is truly one of the most versatile instruments ever created, but players wanting a humbucking pickup sound in addition to a three single coil sound have had to rely on two different guitars with two different pickup configurations in the past."

Adds McDonald, "The S-1 Switch is an amazing new system that easily combines both of these configurations. For the first time, players can enjoy everything that a Stratocaster guitar can be with the push of a button, right there in one guitar."

The Fender American Series guitars that will come equipped with the new S-1 Switch include the American Series Stratocaster HSS (one humbucking pickup, two single coil pickups) and the American Series Stratocaster HH (two humbucking pickups).

All of the new Fender guitars with S-1 Switch are to be manufactured at Fender's state-of-the-art facility in Corona, California.

US MSRP is $1227.99.
