New Quad Series Guitar Stacks from Kustom

(Click for a close-up)
July 23, 2003

Kustom Amplification, originally known for its upholstered Tuck n' Roll amplifiers as unveiled its first new guitar amp "stack" design since the brand was acquired by Hanser Holdings International (HHI) several years ago. Called the QUAD Stack, the new set-up features an amplifier head based on the Kustom QUAD 100DFX amp, but with a stage-ready, 200-watt power output and a few neat surprises.

Using all-analog circuitry, the amp head (QUAD100-DFXHD) offers several preamp choices. Starting with the Lead Channel, players can select between "GRIND" and "PUNCH" preamp voices, as well as a selectable volume boost mode with "BALLS" and "BIGGER BALLS" controls.

The Rhythm Channel delivers two primary preamp voices labeled "FAT" and "LEAN." The former offers a big, round guitar tone for lovers of classic clean tones.. The LEAN preamp kicks in a sparkling tone with an enhanced high- and low-end frequency response. Lead and Rhythm Channels may be selected either with the QUAD footswitch or via the amp's front control panel.

To provide flexibility, the Kustom QUAD stack also provides eight, 24-Bit Digital Effects. Effects such as Chorus, Flanger, Tremolo, Reverbs and Delays can all be easily dialed up for onstage use.

The QUAD Stack speaker cabinets are built using multiple-ply hardwood and covered in vinyl coverings with vintage-style grill-cloths. Each Kustom cabinet houses four Super 65 Celestion speakers. Cabinets and heads all feature a chunky, die-cast Kustom logo for easy onstage identification.

The suggested retail cost of the QUAD Stack amplifier head is $429; the MSRP of the Kustom 4x12 speaker cabinet is $399.
