A unique yin and yang take on Tama's popular fade finishes, the new Starclassic Performer finish, Nightfall Fade, combines the coolness of basic black with a white finish's ability to change color with the stage lights. Starclassic Performer Birch drums in Nightfall Fade were unveiled at the 2003 Summer Nashville NAMM show. The new finish joins several other 2003 Starclassic Performer features that debuted the previous Winter NAMM show: the Accel Driver configuration (Accel rack toms combined with a 16 x 16" floor and extra deep 18 x 22" bass), a slidable tom mount, new snare throw-off system, and Air Pockets floor tom feet. Starclassic Performer drums feature 6mm, 6-ply 100% birch shells (bass drum 7mm, 7- ply; snare drum 8mm, 8-ply). The rack toms are mounted are mounted with Tama's Star-Cast free-suspension mounting system. With the addition of Nightfall Fade, a full dozen different high gloss painted finishes are available.
