Taylor Guitars has broken into the mid-priced guitar market with the release of two new models, the 110 Dreadnought (suggested list $698) and the 214 Grand Auditorium ($998). These new Taylors are built in Taylor's factory in Southern California, using the same combination of technology production procedures and hand-craftsmanship used to create the company's high-end acoustic guitars. The 110 was released in Spring 2003. It is a full-size Dreadnought with laminated sapele mahogany back and sides and solid Sitka spruce top, and comes with a canvas Taylor gig-bag. Hot on the heels of the fast-selling 110 is the 214, a full-size Grand Auditorium (Taylor's most popular body style) with back and sides of solid sapele mahogany and a solid Sitka spruce top. The 214 will begin shipping after Summer NAMM '03. For more information, visit their web site at http://www.taylorguitars.com/.
