Yamaha continues to provide music production tools for a growing home/computer recording market with the introduction of the UW10 at Summer NAMM 2003. This highly compact USB audio interface is the perfect accessory for entry-level home and mobile computer recording applications, and is compatible with Windows 98, ME and XP formats. Features include stereo S/PDIF optical I/O, two RCA analog inputs and outputs, and a headphone jack for quick and mobile monitoring. One of the strong points of the UW10 is the unique Trackdown feature. Virtual instruments–tracks generated by software–can be automatically mixed with audio tracks on the UW10 and sent directly to the computer to be saved as a single audio file, where they may then be used to create MP3 files or to burn CDs. Currently available at authorized Yamaha dealers, the UW10 carries an MSRP of $159. For more information, visit their web site at http://www.yamaha.com/.
